Sometimes, it is quite inconvenient, that I do not speak and only barely understand Cantonese. Like, for example, when Mr. Panda talks in his sleep. Sometimes, it is in German, but all the other times, he uses Cantonese.

Mr. Panda has a really deep and healthy sleep, while I, on the other hand, am quite sensitive to noise and wake up quite often because of a certain one snoring or moving around too much. For this reason I have heard one or another story form him while him being asleep. Once in a while, he also sleeptalks in Cantonese.

The first time I caught him talking Cantonese while asleep, I was really surprised. But what surprised me even more, was him who asked me what he said in the morning. And of course I could not answer his question! For the first time, I really thought it was a pity that I couldn’t speak Cantonese. I really wanted to be able to tell him what he said.

Nonetheless I caught him sleeptalking in Cantonese again, and he was actually ordering food! Must have been a nice dream! While my Cantonese is still far beyond from beginners’ level, I was trained to order food and had to remember the names of many dishes and ingredients. Thanks to that, I could at least proudly tell him the day after what he said.

Have you ever caught anyone sleeptalking? Was it funny? What did they say?

Andy once tackled me in his sleep. I screamed. He woke up, apologized, and said he’d been dreaming about American football!

Yeah, I would be tempted to learn Cantonese just to find out what Mr. Panda is saying…although food is pretty boring!

Ouch that mst have hurt. I get punched frequently because he moves around too much while sleeping.

Although I want to know too, it somehow always comes down to food anyway. So if he wants to know exactly, I should probably try to remember all the different Dim Sum that are out there.

I am normally the one kicking and punching because he won’t stop snoring. 🙁
